When You’re the One Who Feels Everything
For highly sensitive parents raising highly sensitive teens
Many of the parents I work with carry a quiet intensity — a deep awareness of their own emotions and their child’s. You feel everything. You question everything. And still, you keep showing up.
This letter is for you — the parent who is holding so much behind the scenes, often without a map or a place to land.
A letter for the parents quietly holding it all while raising highly sensitive teenagers:
I see you —
That mother who gets up every day and walks a path that is so often unseen, unheard, and unacknowledged.
You’re the one checking in with yourself after every interaction.
Every conversation.
Every thought.
You wonder:
Am I getting this right?
Am I repeating patterns I swore I wouldn’t?
Am I unconsciously recreating the very experiences I never wanted for my child?
So many thoughts. So many wonderings. Every single day.
And yet, you still show up.
In your work.
For your family.
In your life.
You’ve learnt to carry these emotional responses with you — even when you’re not sure where it’s safe to land them. Because maybe those you turned to for support in the past just can’t meet you where you are.
They can’t hold your fears, your questions, or your deeper knowing.
Not because they don’t care, but because they don’t fully understand.
And that can be an incredibly lonely place to be.
On the outside, the friendships, the activities, the family time — they might look good.
But inside, there’s often a quiet ache.
A voice that still wonders:
Am I doing this right?
Have I done something wrong?
Why is my teen still struggling — and what does that say about me?
Let me say this with heartfelt validation:
You have done nothing wrong.
The very fact that you do go inward…
That you do question yourself…
That you care this deeply…
That makes you extraordinary.
You are a cycle breaker.
This isn’t always about repairing obvious, outward damage — sometimes it’s the invisible internal patterns passed down through generations. Your parents may have done their best, but you are parenting in a new world, with new awareness and new challenges.
You are bridging the gap:
→ Between analog and digital.
→ Between old norms and new understandings.
→ Between what was and what could be.
And through it all, you’re expected to hold everything together in the present.
You’re not alone in this.
I want to tell you:
I see you. I get it. And I’ve got you.
That’s why I created The Reconnect Space — not as a place to learn more or do more…
But as a place to land.
A space where you can:
- Be met with all parts of yourself
- Feel held, seen, and validated
- Connect with other highly sensitive parents who truly get it
Because this isn’t just about your teenager.
It has to be about you, too.
Ready to explore a new kind of support?
If something in this writing resonated, trust that.
You’re not the only one who feels everything — and you don’t have to carry it all alone.
